With a competent driver, your PC is ready to use serial communication devices. The CP2102 is also compatible with other popular serial devices such as USB-to-RS232 adapters and USB-to-RS422 adapters, providing a flexible solution to serial communication.
For Windows XP, we recommend that you use the Active USB-COM Port Driver. In addition, you can verify that the CP2102 is working correctly by connecting the USB device to another PC using an USB serial cable. If you don’t have access to another PC, you can use a serial terminal program such as minicom, putty, HyperTerminal, or even Microsoft Terminal Services to see if you can talk to the board.
If you are using a commercial operating system, it is your responsibility to ensure that the drivers are installed correctly. When ordering the CP2102, please make sure that you choose the USB-to-UART Bridge Controller that is compatible with your computer.
You can find the USB-to-UART Bridge Controllers from the latest link at the top of this page. We recommend you to confirm the compatibility of your board with the drivers on the link above before ordering. If you have any problems, please contact us.
If you are buying more than one CP2102, you must choose the same USB-to-UART Bridge Controller. It is not recommended to use different USB-to-UART Bridge Controllers. We do not guarantee the compatibility of the CP2102 with different types of USB-to-UART Bridge Controllers.
9) The software should have created the driver config file, if it did not, try the following:
Run the software again
Disconnect the RS-232 device and remove the device driver
Reconnect the RS-232 device and run the software again
If the above methods do not work, try the following:
Make sure the RS-232 device is not connected to another port
Try selecting a different COM port
Try installing a different driver
Try changing the baud rate or other transmission settings
Try the RS-232 device with different software
Try the RS-232 device with another computer
10) If you are still having trouble after trying the above steps, then you can file a bug report with the developers. It may be possible to fix this problem for your specific hardware. Note this may be a driver issue, or driver compatibility issue or you may just have a bad or incompatible RS-232 device.
